This information sheet outlines what we are offering in Year 4 with regards to online learning. We understand how busy parents are and we are trying to ensure tasks can be undertaken independently where possible. However, we understand that some children may require help with certain tasks. We are constantly learning about what works well and what doesn’t, therefore resources/activities may change.
A suggested timetable is uploaded daily to the Year 4 Remote Learning Forum, which may help you to organise the 4 sessions of learning effectively. Thank you once again for all of your efforts.
Instructions for completing all English, Maths and Topic Tasks are contained in PowerPoints with voiceovers on the Forums. In addition, instructions about which pieces of work to email to staff are also clearly given on each Forum.

Daily Independent Tasks Spelling practice Daily reading Daily class story TT Rockstars/Mathsframe
Fresh air & exercise are recommended daily too!
|
These daily activities amount to 1 hour of the children’s remote learning. These activities do not need to be completed all at once but whenever you feel it works best.
These activities should require very little help from parents as all children know how to access them. |

English Forum
Monday –Wednesday Writing Unit Lessons & Tasks x 3 PowerPoint with voiceover
Thursday Spelling test & mark: PowerPoint & voiceover New spelling words: Online DB task SPaG practice task: Online task or worksheet
Friday Reading Comprehension Task with answers PowerPoint & voiceover Book Review Task
Optional English Tasks will sometimes be posted on the Forum too. |
The children will have a PowerPoint with voiceover to go through for each lesson. The PowerPoint will contain all the instructions needed to complete the tasks successfully.
We recommend that Parents/carers sit with children throughout these so that children fully understand the requirements of the task. We often find that children need most help during the writing tasks.
The answers for the spelling test and comprehension tasks will also be attached to self-mark – We recommend this is done by a parent/carer if possible. You can then see if they’ve found it very difficult and make contact with the year 4 staff. |

Maths Video, PowerPoint, worksheet and answers. (Occasional online task too).
Tuesdays only – Times tables test on Mathsframe.
Optional maths tasks will sometimes be posted on the forum too. |
For each Maths lesson, the children will have a video to watch first, followed by a PowerPoint and a worksheet.
Depending on ability, we recommend that parents/carers sit with their children and pause the video to help discuss the questions where possible and assist when they are completing the worksheet where necessary.
The answers will also be attached to self-mark – We recommend this is done by a parent/carer if possible. You can then see if they’ve found it very difficult and make contact with the year 4 staff. |

Topic Lesson Forum (see daily timetable) PowerPoint with voiceover and varying activity.
Optional Tasks will sometimes be posted on the Forums too. |
Over a 2 week rotation all areas of the curriculum will be covered. For each topic task, we will provide a voiced over PowerPoint at a minimum. Sometimes other resources may be made available too.
For these tasks, we will try ensure that children can complete these tasks as independently as possible. However, depending on ability, children may require some assistance when going through the PowerPoint and completing the task. |
