Late Arrival / Pick Up

It is important that pupils arrive for the start of school at 8.55am.  If they arrive after this time please go to the school office and sign them in to make sure they have their attendance mark.

If you are going to be late to collect your child please phone the school office, before 3pm wherever possible.  Your child will be brought to the reception area if they are not collected when the doors are closed

Absence in term time

Absence due to family holiday was too high in our school with too many children missing education by taking term-time leave of absence.

In September 2013 the government introduced regulations which state that:

Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. The staff and governors at Wigton Moor have already revised our current policy in line with the new regulations and this is available to view on the school website.

Since then our attendance has improved and more children are getting their full entitlement to education.

In short, holidays will not be authorised by the Headteacher.

Leave of absence can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.

Receiving a full school education is essential for all children to make the best progress they can. We're sure you will support us in improving attendance and will choose to take family holidays out of term time.
